Unbottled

The author is utilizing the sharing of these poems as movement towards what some might term a recovery.

For those unfamiliar with the term Tosspot – the old definition of which is intended here – it refers to a drunk, an alcoholic, one who tosses back drinks with reckless abandon. Check.

Also, among the pages of every poet’s efforts, is a piece that far exceeds their usual talent and abilities. For me, that piece happens to be called Tosspot.

No longer measuring success by the number of drinks consumed either independently of, or side by side with, others, is a substantial change from past ideologies. That will explain the ‘in absentia’ aspect.

The demons were never limited to the bottles. The bottles merely indicated the size, scope, and number of demons which preceded the bottles. The writing of poems often followed the drinking of demons.

A phrase I once came up with to describe these poems went something like this: ‘Poetic Freedom – It’s a license to write what destroys a life…’

Toss one back and get reading.
